Salmon Dog Treats

Fish provides your pet with necessary omega oils that will keep his coat and skin in great shape.

Salmon Dog Treats:

1 lb. salmon, pureed in the blender
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup corn meal
1 T. olive oil
2 T. garlic powder

Add all ingredients to the pureed salmon. Mix thoroughly until it’s the consistency of cookie dough. Roll with rolling pin until 1/4 inch thick. Cut out the treats with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. Place on non-stick cookie sheet and bake in pre-heated oven at 250F for 30 minutes or until the dog treats are golden brown.

Tip: These salmon dog treats can be frozen.

Valentine Liver Nibbles Recipe

Nothing says “Be my Valentine” better than a blender full of raw beef liver. You have to love your dog a lot to pop that special ingredient into your blender and then make yourself a smoothie in it the next day. These treats are very nutritious and judging from our dogs’ reactions, very delicious.

Valentine Liver Nibbles Recipe:

•1 lb fresh raw organic beef liver or chicken liver
•3 free range eggs
•1/4 cup canola or other vegetable oil
•2 cups instant oats
•1 Tbsp applesauce (optional)
•2 Tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
•3 Tbsp powdered kelp
•Filtered water sufficient to make a batter

Process the liver in a blender or food processor until completely pureed. Beat the eggs in a bowl and pour in the oil. Add the liver. Mix in the dry ingredients slowly, stirring continuously so they are thoroughly combined. Add water gradually, until you have a “batter” consistency. Pour this batter into a loaf tin. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Cool in the tin until able to be handled, then gently turn the loaf out onto a rack and refrigerate to cool completely. Cut with heart-shaped cookie cutter. Store in a sealed container.

Cinnamon Honey Hearts Dog Biscuits

A touch of honey and cinnamon add just the right blend of sweet and spice to this gourmet dog treat.

Cinnamon Honey Hearts:

1/4 Cup Water
1/4 Cup pureed Banana
1/2 Cup plain Yogurt
1 Tablespoon Honey
1 Tablespoon Canola Oil
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 Cup Oat Flour
1/4 Cup Rice Flour
1 Cup Wheat Flour

In a small bowl combine the cinnamon, oat flour, rice flour, and 1/2 cup wheat flour. Set aside. In a separate bowl mix water, banana, yogurt, honey, and canola oil with an electric mixer. Add the dry ingredients and mix until well blended. Mix in remaining wheat flour 1/4 cup at a time until a stiff dough forms.

Place on floured surface and roll to desired thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 300 degrees. If rolled to 3/8″ baking time is 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Tip: After shutting off the oven I leave the dog biscuits in the oven for a couple hours to make sure they are completely dry and crunchy. Then they can be stored for a long time with out worrying about spoilage.

Carob Doggie Delights

1 Tablespoon Honey

In a small bowl combine the wheat flour, rolled oats, carob, flax seed, and baking powder. Set aside. In a separate bowl beat together the egg, water, and honey. Add the dry ingredients and mix until well blended and forms a stiff dough.

Place on floured surface and roll to desired thickness. Cut into heart shapes. Bake at 300 degrees. If rolled to 3/8″ baking time is 30 minutes to 35 minutes.
