[title size=”1″]In-House Blood Work[/title]

Dog Getting Blood DrawnGetting accurate results of tests in a timely manner is very important for your pet’s health. Diagnostic tests give us a great deal of information about the cause of your pet’s illness. Tests can also help us prepare for surgery or determine how extensive an injury is.

The in-house blood work laboratory at Compassionate Care Animal Clinic lets us quickly test blood, urine and fecal samples. Our veterinarian can perform many tests and obtain the results within 10-15 minutes. Many times, we can begin appropriate treatment immediately. Other tests are sent to an offsite laboratory and results can take a little longer.

Pre-operative blood work is recommended for all pets before any surgical or dental procedure. These tests range from a minimal blood chemistry panel to a more extensive analysis, including thyroid levels, clotting factors, and bile acid testing. All tests are tailored to your individual dog or cat’s breed, age, and clinical condition.

During a wellness examination, we use the some of these tests to establish baselines for your pet so that we know what is normal from year to year.

  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Heartworm
  • Fecal ova and parasite test
  • Urinalysis
  • Blood chemistry panel
  • Thyroid function
  • Feline leukemia (FeLV)
  • Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)

Any time we recommend diagnostic tests, we will discuss the reasons for the tests and answer any questions you may have. If you ever need more information, please feel free to call or contact Compassionate Care Animal Clinic in Boca Raton.
